The Adama Public Health Research and Referral Laboratory Center was formerly known as Adama Regional Laboratory and was established in 1995EC aim to support laboratories technically in the region and lead the quality of laboratory services. While its establishment, the scope services were limited to AFB Reagent preparation and External Quality Assurance. So far, the regional Laboratory is expending its scope acting as one of the excellency center for the region, accredited referral laboratory in the advanced diagnosis of MDR TB, Viral Load, EID, Routine Bacteriological Test, Immuno Hematology and Public Health Water Quality testing and more over APHRRLC is one of the COVID-19 testing laboratory. In Addition, to improve the quality of laboratory services at hospitals and Health center level, the regional laboratory undertake External Quality Assessment for TB, HIV and Malaria, Mentorship and Supervision for LQMS implementation, development of competent health workforce through capacity building processes.
CPD Team
Since June 2010 EC the regional laboratory is one of the accredited in-service training center and design and delivering need based in-service training activities. So far, in the strategic plan the regional laboratory incorporated the range of learning activities (CPD) through which professionals maintain and develop throughout their career to ensure that they retain their capacity to practice safely, effectively and legally within their evolving scope of practice and the regional laboratory has adequate capacity and well experienced man power in maintaining the training program.
