• Expanded by PEPFAR and officially opened by H.E Oromia Regional State president, Ato Alemayehu Atomsa and H.E Ambassador to Ethiopia Donald E. Booth on 31 January 2003
• It serve the community in the catchment area by giving referral laboratory services,Capacity Building, Conducting operational Research, Training (CPD) and Reagent preparation and distribution
• Give services for 09 Zones, 14 Town Administrations, 58 Hospitals, 704 HCs, and 2 neighbor regions (Amhara & Afar) as a referral laboratory.
• The total number of catchments HFs under APHRRLC are 762
• Total Catchment Population is estimated to be 19 million

The Adama Public Health Research and Referral Laboratory Center (APHRRLC) is established by Oromia Regional Health Bureau under reference letter BEFO/L.T.Ad.1/1351(ED01)to operate as public health research, capacity building for laboratory professionals, quality assurance and diagnostic laboratory. The APHRRLC is accountable for the Oromia Regional Health Bureau (ORHB).
